Fearless

The LORD is on my side; I will not fear: what can man do unto me?

Psalm 118:6

Sometimes during our walk with the Lord, we encounter rough and rocky terrain. Often during those turbulent times it can seem that the Lord is not near. We cry out for help and we don’t hear Him respond, we reach out for Him in our prayers and don’t feel His presence, we look for Him in His Word and cannot “see” Him. But He’s still there—despite the haze that we are clawing through. God has promised that He will never leave us, nor forsake us. He is merciful and there for us – always.

So, with that in mind, it is critical to understand that the Lord is on our side. The crazy things that happen in our lives often press us to doubt God’s love toward us, which causes fear to rear its spiky head. But if we remember that God has not abandoned us, the fear will not prevail to make us fold in our pursuit of pressing forward. We must walk in the assurance that God is always in control and He really is on our side. Think about that, God is on my side. That means that when people speak against you, God is on your side. When the enemy throws his fieriest darts at you, God is on your side. When your flesh just won’t seem to die, God is on your side. He wants you to triumph. He wants you to overcome. God is for you. He wants you to walk in the assurance that you are more than a conqueror through Christ who loves you.

When life is waging a war against you, remind yourself: the Lord is on my side. When the circumstances seem to be overtaking you, remind yourself: the Lord is on my side. When fear screams in your face during times of adversity and struggle, remind yourself: the Lord is on my side. Walk in faith and confidence, for the holy arm and right hand of God has crushed the head of your enemies. Jesus told us to be of good cheer, for He has overcome the world and the wicked one. We have no need to fear. If we are in relationship with the Lord, nothing that the enemy or the world hurls at us will prosper. However we are afflicted and troubled, God will make it work for our good. Stand fearlessly. Surely, the Lord is on our side.
