Perfect Peace

Thou wilt keep him in perfect peace, whose mind is stayed on Thee: because he trusteth in Thee. Trust ye in the LORD forever: for in the LORD JEHOVAH is everlasting strength.

Isaiah 26:3-4

Perfect: complete, entire, wanting for nothing.

Perfect is the peace that God promises to those who keep their mind and heart turned toward Him—continually. This is the peace that one has whose trust is in the Lord God of Heaven.

In the midst of all that our eyes have seen or that we have actually endured, we can still have confidence in the strength, wisdom and sovereignty of God. He is still in control, regardless of what has happened. God is still the one who sits on the throne, high above the earth, seeking for someone who is open to experiencing His might. He shows Himself strong to the one whose heart is perfect toward Him, to the one who trusts completely in Him, to the one who looks to Him for strength.

God blesses this person with perfect peace. In the midst of perilous times, God grants this person peace. In the face of rank terror, God fortifies them with peace. Regardless of the devices that the enemy uses—like fear, terror, distress or disease—God grants the one whose mind is stayed on Him: peace.

Having this peace does not mean that we are oblivious to what is going on in the world, nor does it mean that we are insensitive to the hurt and grief of others. It simply means that we know, with surety, where our help comes from. We know in whom our trust lies. Not a job, not a person, not a crystal, not a light, not a dead statue, not a star, not a candle, not a bell, but in the hand of the Almighty God. Our trust and confidence is in Him. God is the source of our peace and strength.

God is the source of perfect peace. Seek His face.
